Growing Blue Oyster Mushrooms with Nearby Naturals

What if I told you that you could grow your own mushrooms at home super easy with minimum work required? Well, it's exactly what I did with my Nearby Naturals Blue Oyster Mushroom Kit that a family member got me for Christmas!
What you don't know about me is that I kill fake plants...so I thought this would be challenging...well, challenge accepted!
What started as an urban mushroom growing concept in a rental house garage two years ago blossomed into a high volume mushroom farm in Orlando, Florida. Ok, now let's get to my story with the grow kit! Again, I cannot grow anything at home for the life of me, so when my grow kit arrived in the mail with a text from my uncle stating "happy fungi growing!", I was nervous as heck! But he had been able to grow multiple clusters of his pink oyster mushrooms and was working on another type soon. The first thing I did was read the instructions inside...but the best thing I did was watch their video on their website to explain the process so ensure I didn't make any cuts incorrectly into the plastic. Ok, so when they said the mushrooms grow quickly once the baby mushrooms, or "pins" form, they weren't joking! The joke in the house was that since they doubled in size every day when we saw them after work, one day we would get home and they would be asking for an allowance and college fund while drinking coffee on the kitchen counter. Ok, so I started the process on 12/22/2020 when I got the kit in the mail. By Monday 12/28/2020 I got the first sprout coming out of the plastic only a few days after the pins first formed!
Here is a photo from 12/28/20 two days after the first small pins began to show. It quickly went from small pins to a cluster OVERNIGHT! We were shocked by how quickly it happened
12/29/2020: Here is a photo only 24 hours later! See how quickly it doubled in size overnight! You can appreciate the blue hue from the blue ouster color
12/30/2020: Then 24 hours later again! double in size, trumpets showing, taking more form! Just a few more days we we will be eating!
12/31/2020: On New Years Eve we thought we would be eating mushrooms for dinner at home! But they needed just one more day! It was amazing to see this process!
1/1/2021: And then on New Years Day, we had sautéed blue oyster mushrooms for dinner!!!!
I had to share a photo of the cluster next to my 7 pound Morkie for size comparison! These mushrooms were thick and meaty! Loved them!
So here I go, a girl that would kill fake plants, successfully growing mushrooms at home and eating them fresh! Can't wait for the next kind!
